Hi there, I’m the creator behind bettiemarie – welcome!

I’ve been sewing, designing, and dreaming up patterns for as long as I can remember—starting with fabric scraps and doll clothes, and eventually designing collections and prints in high school. After studying fashion and diving deep into the technical side of garment-making, I kicked off my career in a fabric warehouse and worked my way up to becoming a Garment Technologist and Product Developer for international brands.

In 2006, I launched bettiemarie as a creative outlet—originally focusing on lingerie and small-scale designs. Fast forward to today, and bettiemarie is growing right alongside me. With new tools and a broader vision, I’m now creating a wider range of sewing patterns that mix vintage charm, modern details, and a playful twist.

Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned sewist, my patterns are made to inspire and help you create something you’ll love to wear.

Thanks for stopping by—let’s sew something amazing together!

History

2009 – I started developing patterns under the name “Bettiemarie” and listed them on etsy.

2011 – Pattern development came to a stop with limitations to the design process and resources, I pivoted and focused solely on my career within the fashion industry.

2015 – I started teaching as a qualified trainer and assessor with Australian Institute of Fashion Design / Creative Design.

2021 – I started teaching at one of Queensland’s leading fashion college.

2024 – Moving to Central Queensland has allowed me to refocus on pattern drafting and creative processes. Relaunching Bettiemarie with the goal to start developing sewing patterns again.
